Want the Experience of a Lifetime?

Hoku Hawaii Tours is excited to announce a brand new tour that signals a huge milestone for the company – expansion to the other Hawaiian islands! Hoku’s latest tour is a phenomenal blend of Hawaiian culture, history, and mythology packaged into a luxurious sunset dinner and stargazing tour to the House of the Sun, Maui’s famous Haleakala.

Starting off with door-to-door transportation – isn’t it wonderful not to have to worry about that? – our navigator for the Haleakala Sunset Dinner & Stargazing Tour captivates us with local life, legends, and lore. As we ascend the base of Haleakala, we are greeted by breathtaking views of the West Maui Mountains, central valley, and northern coastline around every turn.

A delicious gourmet dinner at quaint Kula Lodge warms and fills our bellies as we begin adjusting to higher elevation and cooler temperatures. The dinner view is quite epic as sunset bathes the surrounding landscape in rosy, golden colors and glints off the distant ocean. After dinner as dusk deepens to twilight, we continue our traverse onwards and upwards into the National Park. At the National Park Headquarters Visitor’s Center, we have the opportunity to view one of the rarest endemic plant species in the world – ‘Ahinahina also known as Silversword. Though each plant may live up to fifty years, it will only bloom once in its lifetime. Wow!

Advancing to the Crater Visitor’s Center, we bundle into the warm outer layers provided and keep our hands toasty by holding cups of hot coffee and tea while our navigator arranges our night viewing equipment. The state-of-the-art telescope is computerized and equipped with GPS, enabling us to accurately pinpoint Hoku (stars) and their constellations. Our navigator teaches us about the ancient art of wayfinding as we take in the vast celestial panorama.

Our time on Haleakala comes to a conclusion and we re-board the bus under the twinkling eyes of the stars. Our navigator smoothly and carefully descends the mountain and returns us safely to our resort, filled with a new sense of awareness and awe that will last a lifetime.
