Now that you’ve decided to take the whole family to Hawaii, the hard part begins. Particularly if you have many kids in different age groups, it can be stressful keeping everyone happy with the itinerary. What will work for a seven year old certainly won’t do for a young teen. According to the Huffington Post, one survey revealed that 46 percent of U.S. travelers admit to not being able to fully enjoy their vacation due to stress; however, 78 percent of travelers would never give up their family vacation. In order for everyone to have fun on your Hawaiian vacation, heed these tips to creating a stress-free environment on your vacation.

Do Your Research Together

Settling on Hawaii as your destination was the biggest task, but now that you’ve made that decision as a family, decide on other aspects of your vacation together as well. Go online and browse the various attractions, look at each island to see what it offers each age group, find out what each person really wants to do, and have a group discussion on the options. Giving everyone a voice as to what to do in Hawaii will reduce your stress level as a parent.

Book Your Activities Early

To prevent melt-downs and disappointment when in Hawaii, it’s important to book all tours and excursions before you leave home. This will reserve you a spot at the most popular attractions and make it easy to enjoy them without worrying about anything being booked solid. Don’t Over Plan

While you do want to plan out a structure to your day, don’t forget to schedule some much-needed downtime so everyone can rest. After all, this is supposed to be a vacation! For example, if you have small children, plan an excursion in the morning, then go back to the hotel mid-day for a two-hour nap. Head back out for more fun and dinner in the later afternoon. Got teens? Give them their space by scheduling down time at night so they can go off on their own and socialize.
