Honeymoons to Remember

Well, you’ve tied the knot and are ready to jet off to your honeymoon destination for a week or two in perfect luxury just the two of you. If you booked your honeymoon in Hawaii, you’re the luckiest couple around! Seemingly created just for couples, Hawaii boasts natural lush rainforest, craggy volcano tops, spots for quiet contemplation, award-winning spas, soft sandy beaches and sunsets to die for.

Go for a Drive

On Oahu, head to Tantalus Drive to the top of Mount Tantalus, passing tropical rain forests, lava rock walls, ginger and eucalyptus trees, and Puu Ualakaa State Park along the way. The peak reaches more than 2,000 feet into the air. From there, you can catch incredible views of Moana Valley, Diamond Head volcano and the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, you can see for 15 miles, glimpsing Pearl Harbor, Honolulu and Waikiki below.

Sunset Beach Walks

With large waves that can signal danger most of the year, this doesn’t mean you can’t stroll along Sunset Beach for a romantic experience you won’t soon forget. It stretches two miles and isn’t named Sunset Beach for nothing. The sunsets here alone are worth the whole trip to Hawaii. Enjoy some wine and cheese in the soft powdery sand while watching pink-streaked clouds settling over the Waianae Mountains.

Sunbathe at Waimea Bay

A beautiful beach on the North Shore, Waimea Bay stretches endlessly with pure white sand that’s perfect for sinking your toes into. If you’re honeymooning in the summer, you’ll have excellent conditions for swimming; in winter, the surf gets dangerous but it’s perfect for surfers. After that, head to Waimea Valley, a botanical garden featuring the picturesque Waimea Falls.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Set the alarm and get up early to watch the sunrise on the Big Island and visit the two active volcanoes of Kilauea and Mauna Loa within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Drive along Crater Rim Drive to the summit of Kilauea and witness a variety of terrains on your way, from desert to tropical rain forest. For longer stretches, head to the East Rift and coastal section via Chain of Craters Road where you can hike on one of the many paths and trails.

Hanauma Bay on Honolulu and Waikiki

For the ultimate in romance, head to the site of this once-active volcano in its signature horseshoe-shaped bay. Get great views of Hanauma or head down there and do some snorkeling. For fish that swim right around you with no fear, this is the most interactive snorkeling experience you will ever have.

Your honeymoon is your chance to create a unique memory just the two of you. No matter where you choose to spend it, it will always be yours to cherish. Hawaiian honeymoons are special in and of themselves. What you do while on yours makes it unforgettable.
